Conversion rate calculator

Calculate conversion rate from eligible visits and completed conversions.

Last updated

Count one chosen conversion at most once per eligible visit. Do not mix people with sessions or combine event types.

Calculated locally. Only these numeric inputs appear in a shared link.

Your results

Conversion rate
3%
Completed conversions as a share of eligible visits in the same window.

How to use this tool

Use one reporting window and a consistent measurement scope. Replace the example inputs with your own figures. The result updates locally as you type. Copy the result to your planning notes, or copy a link containing only the numeric inputs. Reset restores the illustrative example.

  • Enter visitors and orders for the same period and source.
  • Read the conversion rate.
  • Compare across sources or devices.
  • Check the sample is large enough before acting.

Worked example

Sixty completed purchases from 2,000 eligible visits gives 3%. A newsletter sign-up and a purchase are different outcomes. Name the conversion before measuring it, then keep the same definition when comparing periods.

Formula and units

Conversion rate (%) = completed conversions / eligible visits × 100.

Assumptions and review notes

This tool assumes one counted conversion per eligible visit and rejects conversions above visits. A person-based funnel requires unique people in both fields, not sessions in one and people in the other. Segmentation can explain change better than a blended percentage: inspect traffic source, device and landing page before concluding the creative improved.

Conversion rate depends heavily on traffic source, price and device, so compare like with like. Use your own history rather than a general average.

  • Traffic source.
  • Device.
  • Price.
  • Page speed.
  • Mixing sources.
  • Using sessions in one place and users in another.
  • Small samples.
  • Ignoring seasonality.
